Physician’s Assistant Joins Margaretville Hospital Staff

Margaretville, N.Y., Nov. 2009 – Katherine J. Uphoff,  RPA-C, has joined the staff of Margaretville Hospital as a physician’s assistant.

Ms. Uphoff is working at the Margaretville Family Health Center, adjacent to the hospital. She comes to Margaretville Hospital after spending six years

as a physician’s assistant with Hudson Valley E.N.T. in Middletown. She began her career as a P.A. working for Levi H. Lehv, M.D. in Middletown. Ms. Uphoff is a graduate of Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y. where she received a Physician Assistant Bachelor of Science degree, with a minor in biology. She is certified as a physician’s assistant with the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants and also has Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. She began her employment at Margaretville Hospital in September 2009, taking over for longtime Physician’s Assistant Chuck Roth.

Ms. Uphoff said she has quickly settled in to her new position. “I always pictured myself in a small town, family practice setting while I was in P.A. school.

I had chosen family medicine as my elective clinical rotation. I believe I've found my professional niche here in Margaretville. All the staff have been so welcoming and working with Dr. Susan Fiore has given me a sense of opportunity to learn and grow professionally,” she commented. During her leisure, Ms. Uphoff said, “I am hoping to connect with Catskill conservationist groups or a couple of hiking buddies to learn more about the natural preserves and parks. I couldn't be happier.”
